For those wondering, the Chayote is nicknamed the vegetable pear and while technically considered a squash, is often referred to as a pear in many areas! Recipe is linked in the description box ๐
Oh my gosh chayote is the one vegetable in my life Iโve always hated!! ๐ I didnโt even know non Mexicans knew it existed! Everything else looks really good tho ๐
very helpful thankyou
this is gentrification
I love chayote, in my country we call it gรผisquil and is mostly used in soups as another veggie for the broth, just like potatoes and carrots.
Since I never liked fish – I'm assuming I won't like this either. lol
I heard about using banana blossom for fish tacos. I wonder if it would work here?
Sorry that isnt Mexican inspired. Radish? Mango? ๐ค
yay
wow!! you gave it a good toss!! ๐ when i used to make it, we would marinate everything overnight, not just some as you did.
๐๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ omfg, where are you getting your info??! Mexicans do not put mango or corn in ceviche… gentrification of ceviche at best ๐
Wow, that sounds exciting …
In India we call chayote "Chow Chow" ๐
so right about avocados. whenever i get a bad one, i say to myself i'm never buying avocados again. i'm glad i'm not the only one that's in awe when i get a perfect avocado. also mango, avocado, and cilantro is literally one of my favorite things. i work at whole foods, i learned about chayote when i was a cashier, we sell them there.
Let's replicate the act defined to be cruel and disgusting, makes sense xd
another fruit with an unpronousable name shipped from the other side of the globe, you guys should be ashamed to call yourselves ethical vegan
She sounds so tired and exhausted.
lol we call this chou-chou and it's also found in india
In Australia we call them choko and when they grow in your backyard you get a lot of choko's at one time so this is definitely going to be on the menu in choko season
i swear every time she says "edgy veg" it sounds like "itchy bitch" to me ๐๐๐๐
You lost me at โfish.โ I didnโt like fish even before I became a vegan!
Looks yummy and fresh! I live in Malaysia, we find chayote here, but I donโt remember what itโs called locally. Indian recipes call it chow chow. I find it to be pretty much like a firm zucchini. We call it a butt squash ๐
In New Orleans, we call that a mirliton. Especially during holidays, we would do (before I went vegan) stuffed mirliton or a casserole starting with a trinity and using sea life.
It was my favorite thing ever.
Considering that it has little to no flavor onit's own, I have not known what to do with it since going vegan 4 years ago. Consequently, none of my family has either because I was the person in charge of making it.
I can not wait to try this! Thank you!
Also, how many lines does it take to make 1ยฝ cups lime juice?
Peak mental illness
I am 100% a peel the avocado and then slice it kinda gal. I've tried both ways. That way is just better for me ๐
It's called Choko here in New Zealand, it grows wild everywhere on old house sites. It can be a very invasive weed. It's a climber, and can choke young trees very fast, probably how it got the name Choko. But its really good for pickles, and cooked with a white sauce or cheese sauce.
There are so many ways of making ceviche and I think that every Mexican family has its own way ๐ the way we do it is with: onion, tomatoes, cucumber, avocado, Clamato and loooots of hot sauce and any other "black" sauces for additional flavor. oh! and tons of lime juice ๐ Soooo good!
