are you sure oreo is vegan?
I just have to say because I feel like a lot of people are unaware of this. Oreos might (in most countries) be vegan, but they do contain palm oil. The palm oil industry is responsible for much of the destruction of habitats, mainly to baby orangutans and other animals, slave labour, and not to mention the planet. So, personally, I wouldn't consider palm oil vegan. If you go vegan for health and nothing more, however, that's slightly different. Although, palm oil cannot exactly be considered healthy.

Actually most food coloring IS vegan. There's a difference between Red #2 and Red #40. Red 40 is usually the one I see in markets and the one I buy. Red 2 is the coloring that is carmine AKA red coloring extracted from cochineal beetles. You should watch out for Red 2 in ingredient labels. However I don't recall seeing Red 2 food coloring on shelves. Hm. Just make sure to select Red 40 buddies and not Red 2 🙂

Is icing sugar vegan?
Quick question. What sugar do you use? Because it doesn't look like granulated white sugar. It looks a bit darker. Just was curious. Love this recipe and want to try.

the oreo website says that oreos are not suitable for vegans because they have cross contact with milk. but they don't have any dairy in them so they themselves are vegan
