  1. Nah we actually live in 2024 and we have tons of data from mice and other animals given msg. We know its impact on the body over time as well now. Yall dont ever discuss how the fermentation of current modern day msg is from gmo starches and gmo sugar beets. Its devastatingly bad for you. Literally all of you brought up the same story from the 1960s and decided to teach a woke slavery lesson rather than educate yourselves.

  2. When I was a kid I asked my uncle why he used a half bag of salt on our chowfun, he said it wasn’t salt it was MSG. When I told my friend’s family about my family’s chowfun, they flipped out because they believed it was detrimental to our health. I still use MSG for myself today.

  3. It makes people addicted. I have seen my aunt go to Popeyes & churches every single day as soon as she opens her eyes like a zombie she said she couldn’t control it “why can’t I stop eating Popeyes everyday even at 10 at night I’m getting dressed to go get it” I said because it has chemicals engineered to make you addicted like MSG. It’s banned in the US in food & they use it anyway to make people like you (black ppl) addicted & obese so you can be on their medicine & fuel big pharma. It is bad for you Candace.

  4. In biochem, we learned MSG is an umnani flavor. We all have free flowing glutimates in the brain, so it can attach and act like an excitotoxin. But, so does caffeine, sugar, artificial colors (etc), to some degree… There's no proof that people can develop migraines from it, but just like the other 3 listed above – people can intolerances, or allergic reactions. Thankfully, I'm not one of those people heh heh 😊

  5. I was diagnosed with an msg intolerance, along with peanuts, soy and nightshade vegetables that would trigger migraines. It's not as bad as it was when I was little, but large amounts will trigger a migraine.

I think the worst is peanuts because peanut butter is my favorite food.

  6. No, it is NOT essentially salt. That is an irresponsible statement. MSG is an excitotoxin. ALL excitotoxins are harmful to our neurons as they overexcite them and lead to their death.

  7. From the freaking mayo website:
"Researchers admit, though, that a small number of people may have short-term reactions to MSG. Symptoms are often mild and don't need to be treated. The only way to prevent a reaction is to not eat foods that have MSG in them."

I am one of those people and I suffer from migraines. Well aware that MSG is naturally occuring in foods. But if I eat a concentrated amount of it, I can get a migraine without even being told a bunch was added.

I also can't drink very much red wine.

There's also a study conducted by the NIH that proves that there's a small amount of people that actually do have sensitivity.

Just like red wine, if I drink a little bit I'm fine I don't get a migraine. I drink a big glass migraine, 🍷 then what the heck migraine.

  8. Interesting fact: MSG is the single most researched food ingredient in recorded history, largely because of white panic about it. Not a single study has EVER been able to confirm causation of any of the symptoms it's blamed for.

  9. Thank you SO MUCH for this! I love to use MSG in pretty much every recipe as I've found that it enhances the flavor of the dish a lot better than salt can do. I have encountered a lot of people who just think that MSG is this bad evil ingredient that disrupts your hormones and deteriorates your brain activity etc. etc. but none of them have any reputable source of information to back up their claims lol

  10. There are many people who do have reactions with MSG, it’s not racism when people who eat the MSG actually get sick with Headaches, Flushing, Sweating, Face pressure (tightness), Lack of feeling which is numbness it can also cause tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas, quick and fluttering heartbeats, chest pain, nausea or getting sick, and weakness, so MSG making people sick is a real thing.

The reason that it doesn’t affect some of the Asians that use it, is because they may have a tolerance to it and many drink teas with their meals that contain MSG and that tea may help to combat the effects that others who are new to MSG may get. MSG in studies have been shown to have affect women more than men. In some pregnant women MSG can also increase the sickness they get. So most people know of MSG from Asian cuisine, but not everyone eats the food the same way with the teas that can keep the symptoms away or down.

When it comes to glutamate, to much glutamate is associated with diseases such as Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and Huntington’s. MSG is isolated glutamate added with salt, and it can increase the risk of those diseases aforementioned because it is isolated and in higher amounts.

  11. I can only share an experience I had with my partner. We like Chinese food, and living in London we use to eat in Soho’s China Town regularly. There was one restaurant we ate in on three occasions, and on each occasion we both had the same symptoms. A strange numbing sensation, felt like the skin was being tightened around the skull etc, this would last for a couple of minutes, usually beginning halfway through the meal.

After the third time eating at that particular restaurant, and experiencing the same sensations each time, we stopped visiting that restaurant. Was it caused by MSG? I don’t know. I have experienced this one other time while eating Chinese food in New York.
